University of Michigan baseball player Mitch Voit issued an apology after his controversial, drug-inspired celebration went viral.
During the Wolverines’ game against the University of Southern California Trojans on Sunday, March 16, Voit, 20, hit a bases-clearing triple in the second inning at Ann Arbor, Michigan’s Ray Fisher Stadium.
To celebrate after sliding into third base, Voit mimicked snorting a line of cocaine off the chalk on the baseline.
“I would like to apologize for my actions on third base yesterday,” Voit posted via Instagram on Monday, March 17. “I made an immature decision in the heat of the moment. The gesture I made does not reflect my character, the household I was raised in, or the block M that I represent in any kind of way.”
