Transfer Talk: Arsenal, Chelsea eye Sesko to solve scoring woes

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for a while yet, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Race heating up for Sesko

RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko is being monitored by Arsenal, Chelsea and Napoli, reports Rudy Galetti.

The 20-year-old has had an impressive season in Germany, notching 12 goals and two assists across all competitions, and emerging as one of the brightest young talents in the Bundesliga in the process.

The Slovenia international is under contract with the German side until 2028, though his release clause of €50 million makes Leipzig vulnerable to losing their talisman this summer.

It is reported that several top clubs in Europe are keeping tabs on the youngster, including Arsenal. The Gunners are understood to be in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer, with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah the only currently recognised strikers at the club.

Chelsea are also in the race for Sesko, with the Blues desperate to bring a prolific striker to Stamford Bridge this summer to help solve their scoring woes.

Meanwhile, outside of England, Napoli are reported to hold an interest in Sesko. Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has been strongly linked with a move away from the Italian champions this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly keen on striking a deal for the Nigeria star. This has left Napoli to consider replacements, with the youthful Sesko potentially representing a long-term replacement for Osimhen.

PAPER GOSSIP

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to part ways with forward Troy Parrott this summer amid Bundesliga interest, per Football Insider. The 22-year-old has one year left on his deal and, after impressing on loan in the Netherlands with Excelsior, Spurs could offload Parrott to ensure he does not leave as a free agent next year. The report reveals that several German sides are keeping tabs on the forward, with Spurs willing to facilitate a departure should they receive a suitable offer.

– Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has emerged as a main target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, reveals Rudy Galetti. The 30-year-old is currently on loan at AS Roma and has scored 18 goals across all competitions. The report indicates that Chelsea are looking to offload the Belgium international on a permanent basis this summer, with a move to the Saudi Pro League looking likely.

Internazionale are weighing up a potential move for Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The France forward is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer, leaving the 28-year-old free to negotiate deals with clubs abroad. The report indicates that whilst Inter Milan are prioritising a move for Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson, they have been long-term admirers of Martial, with a free transfer potentially too good for the Italian giants to turn down. It is reported that Inter will face competition for Martial from Fenerbahce and two unnamed Ligue 1 clubs.

– Napoli are monitoring Galatasaray forward Nicolò Zaniolo ahead of the summer, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 24-year-old has spent this season on loan at Aston Villa, however, he has managed just two goals in all competitions, with the player keen on a return to Serie A. The report suggests that Zaniolo could depart Galatasaray for €20m, which has caught the eye of Napoli, as well as Fiorentina.

Athletic Club winger Nico Williams remains high on the list of priorities for Barcelona this summer, reports Sport. The 21-year-old is reportedly content at Bilbao, though it is hoped he could be tempted to make the switch to Barcelona, where he has many friends including Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde. The report indicates that Williams has a release clause of €50m, although with Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles, it is unclear whether a deal can be struck.
