Jake Shane is living out his dreams as he makes his foray into acting — which he teased to Us before his role in Hacks season 4 was announced.
“I really want to get into acting. I just did my first acting thing. It’s not announced yet. It’s small, but it’s really, really, really cool, and I’m really excited about that,” Shane, 25, exclusively told Us Weekly in March while promoting his partnership with CeraVe. “So hopefully that opens more doors. I’m really, really hoping to get into that.”
Variety reported on Wednesday, April 2, that Shane would play “Social Media Girlie” in season 4 of Hacks. After news broke of his casting, Shane teased via his social media that he would be in a “few episodes” of the Max show.
“It’s not every day you fall in love with a TV show … and then get to guest star in it. Honored to announce I’ll be in a few episodes of Max’s Hacks Season 4, premiering April 10,” Shane wrote via Instagram, sharing behind-the-scenes images of his time onset. “Thank you to Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky for trusting me with their vision, and the entire Hacks cast and crew for being so welcoming … I am so grateful to be a part of this masterpiece of a show.”

Shane also shared a throwback video of him finding out he was cast on the show. In the TikTok uploaded on Wednesday, Shane placed his hand over his mouth before jumping around the room in joy and screaming.
Season 4 of Hacks — which is set to premiere on Thursday, April 10 — picks up after Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) landed her dream job on late-night and refused to give Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) the head writer gig. Ava, however, ended up black-mailing Deborah into giving her the role.

When it comes to getting tips on his acting skills, Shane told Us that he has leaned on pal Glen Powell — whom he called “one of the busiest people I think I’ve ever met in my entire life.”
“I do actually always ask Glen for advice, and he always gives me really, really great advice,” Shane said. “It’s a business where you hear no a lot. So if you have something going for you that’s working, keep pushing forward with that while working on it. Don’t just forgo everything just for this, you know?”
