Ione Skye spilled the tea about various parts of her life in her Say Everything memoir, including details about her brother Donovan Leitch’s romance with Gwyneth Paltrow.
“Vacationing with Dono and his intimidating new girlfriend (yes, that Gwyneth) did not exactly sound relaxing, but anything was more relaxing than living in fear of the next earthquake,” Skye, 54, wrote in her book, which is out now, noting that the ‘90s getaway to Mexico happened shortly after an earthquake shook Los Angeles.
While on the vacation, Skye recalled that Paltrow, now 52, read scripts all week. She also remembered the Shakespeare in Love actress allegedly being snippy with her brother, whom Skye said was mostly sick in bed during the trip.
“At breakfast, Dono had distractedly tipped his water glass (he was one of the world’s most distracted people),” Skye wrote. “A few drops had splashed Gwyneth, and she’d snapped, ‘Idiot.’ With a laugh, but still.”

The Say Anything actress noted that the exchange between Paltrow and Leitch, now 57, rubbed her the wrong way, so she asked her brother about their dynamic.
“Is Gwyneth always mean to you like that?” Skye recalled asking Leitch, who allegedly brushed it off. “Dono laughed … My brother was smitten. He was 27 and looking toward the future, to marriage and kids,” she wrote.
Skye claimed in the memoir, “Gwyneth was only 21 and wasn’t ready for anything too serious. Well, at least not yet.”

She noted that the trip marked the beginning of the end of Paltrow and Leitch. “Six months later, she’d get a part in Se7en and fly to Reno to meet Brad Pitt — and we all know how that turned out,” Skye penned.
Paltrow and Leitch dated from 1993 to 1995. Paltrow went on to date Pitt, now 61, from 1994 to 1997 after they got close on the set of Se7en. They were engaged for a few months before calling it quits.
Paltrow and Leitch, meanwhile, reunited in September 2013 at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. At the time, they were spotted exchanging a kiss while Paltrow was still married to Chris Martin. (Paltrow and Martin, 48, were married from 2003 to 2014. They share two children: Apple, 20, and Moses, 18. Paltrow married Brad Falchuk in 2018.)
Leitch later told the Daily Mail that the smooch was platonic. “I was just saying goodbye to her. It was purely innocent,” he recalled in March 2014. “We were sitting in the owner’s box in front of 30,000 people with her two children right next to us. That isn’t exactly the setting for a secret liaison.”
Leitch has also been married twice. The musician was married to Kirsty Hume from 1997 to 2014. The exes share a daughter, Violet, 20. He wed Libby Mintz in 2015, with whom he shares one son.

Skye, for her part, called writing her memoir a “huge experience” and one that she’s not worried Paltrow will take issue with.

“She has an awareness of who she is, and I feel like that’s one of her superpowers,” she told People of the Goop founder. “She’s amazing in that she understands her world, and she always has a good reaction to people coming after her for things she says.”
Skye also insisted that her recollections of Paltrow weren’t meant to be negative. “We were what, 21 at the time? We were so young,” she explained. “At the time, we thought we were so grown-up!”
