Former Pakistani left-arm pacer Wasim Akram has strongly denied allegations that he criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

In a response on X (formerly Twitter), Akram stated: “Fake news regarding Mr Naqvi. Stop lying. Enough is enough, and please don’t believe these muppets.”

His comment came after reports surfaced that Akram had questioned the inclusion of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf in the ICC Champions Trophy squad.

The selection of the Pakistan Champions Trophy squad has sparked widespread debate, with certain inclusions raising eyebrows.

In particular, the inclusion of Faheem Ashraf, Khushdil Shah, and Tayyab Tahir, replacing Aamer Jamal and Irfan Khan Niazi, has divided opinions among fans and cricket analysts.

As Pakistan prepares for its Champions Trophy opener against New Zealand on 19 February, the focus now shifts to the team’s performance. The squad will aim to silence critics and make a strong bid for the title, as the tournament draws closer.
