A Tiger Woods Biopic Is Coming, But It Won’t Address His Personal Life

A Tiger Woods biopic is on the way — but it will focus only on his legendary golf career.
Amazon MGM is developing the movie, and Barack and Michelle Obama’s company, Higher Ground, is in talks to produce. The film, which does not yet have a name, will be based on Kevin Cook’s book The Tiger Slam: The Inside Story of the Greatest Golf Ever Played.
Reinaldo Marcus Green, who directed King Richard, the movie that chronicled the rise of Venus and Serena Williams, has signed on to direct.
True to the book’s title, the movie will focus on Woods’ pursuit of what’s now known as the Tiger Slam of winning four consecutive major championships. It will also depict Woods’ decision to turn pro in 1996 at 20 years old and his meteoric rise to superstardom.

Tiger Woods has been called one of the greatest golfers to ever play the game — but his journey in the spotlight has been full of highs and lows.  The California native was a child prodigy, making his first-ever TV appearance at the age of 2 on The Mike Douglas Show in 1978 to show […]

Overall, Woods, 49, is one of the most decorated golfers of all time. He’s won the Masters five times in his career, the PGA Championship four times and both the U.S. Open and Open Championship an additional three times each.

In 1997, he became the first Black golfer to win a major when he won the Masters by the largest margin in history. As Woods’ popularity grew, so too did the sport’s, making Woods arguably the most impactful golfer ever.
But while the filmmakers plan to stick to sports, Woods’ life has been just as intriguing off the course. In 2009, reports of his extramarital affairs caused him to lose sponsorships with companies including Accenture, AT&T, Gatorade and General Motors. Woods and his wife at the time, Elin Nordegren, divorced in 2010 after six years of marriage. They share two children, daughter Sam, 17, and son Charlie, 16.

He has also been the victim of two car accidents, one in 2009 right as the rumors of his affair began to swirl, and another in 2021 that caused multiple leg injuries and forced him to take a break from golf. He also had a DUI arrest in 2017.

Even amid news of the upcoming biopic, Woods is making news off the green. He is currently dating Vanessa Trump, ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., according to multiple reports. They have been together since November 2024, per the Daily Mail.
“They just love hanging out, having dinner and schmoozing together,” a source told the publication. “They’re sticking close to home, have decided not to make it a thing and go out in public. Not just yet anyway.” (Us Weekly has reached out to both Woods and Vanessa’s team for comment.)
