When the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles compete in Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9, they will do so in front of a sitting president for the first time ever.
President Donald Trump plans to be at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for the NFL game, the Associated Press reported.
The Secret Service is already in New Orleans preparing for the President’s visit to the biggest sporting event of the year, according to a statement.
“Extensive planning and coordination have been in place to ensure the safety of all attendees, players, and staff,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. “Security measures have been further enhanced this year, given that this will be the first time a sitting President of the United States will attend the event.”

The 2025 Super Bowl stadium will be filled with several of Travis Kelce’s biggest cheerleaders – including Taylor Swift. “I think everybody’s coming,” Jason Kelce told People in an interview published on Tuesday, February 4. “I mean, I don’t want to speak for everybody, but I think obviously, our whole family. I believe, obviously Trav […]

The Secret Service added that fans attending the game will soon receive more information about additional security checkpoints to accommodate the President’s attendance.
Though Trump, 78, will be the first president to attend the Super Bowl, three former vice presidents have done so, with Al Gore enjoying the big game in 1994. Trump’s most recent outing to a football game was in December, when he and now-Vice President JD Vance watched the annual Army-Navy match.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce expressed his excitement to play in front of the president in an interview on Wednesday.
“That’s awesome. It’s a great honor,” Kelce, 35, told reporters. “I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.”
The comment comes after Trump criticized Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

“It was just a question of time… but she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” Trump said in a September 2024 appearance on Fox and Friends, adding that he is “not a fan” of the singer.
While Trump has not indicated which team he will be rooting for, a reporter asked him on Tuesday who he thought would win the game.

“I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner,” he replied, seemingly referring to Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes, already a three-time Super Bowl winner, will try to lead the Chiefs to a historic “three-peat” on Sunday. Kansas City defeated the San Francisco 49ers in last year’s Super Bowl and the Eagles in 2023.
The Eagles’ lone Super Bowl win came in 2017 over the New England Patriots.
